Alfred H Knight have an exciting opportunity for a Fire Assay Technician to join our Laboratory team based in Spartanburg, South Carolina. You will be responsible for carrying out operational procedures associated with classical fire assay methods. This role involves ensuring high levels of precision, accuracy, and efficient service are delivered on all types of samples/commodities submitted to the lab for analysis. Applicants should be able to work in a room with a high temperature and lift samples to 25kg manually.

Responsibilities
Ensuring at all times that a high degree of accuracy and precision is applied to methods and procedures through incorporating and promoting good laboratory practice principles.
Responsible for ensuring that work throughout is followed by documented methods and procedures. It is the post holder’s responsibility to inform their supervisor of any failure in compliance to documented methods.
Advising the supervisor of repetitive problems in connection with training and development objectives that manifest during the execution of day-to-day analytical methods and procedures and associated standard operating practices.
Maintaining records and laboratory data such that work is clearly and easily auditable and traceable.
Assisting the supervisor in setting out and implementing suitable training programmes that will ensure that the post holder is sufficiently well trained to carry out their analytical responsibilities accurately and efficiently.
Assisting the supervisor in updating the post holders training record at every training milestone, while maintaining competency training records as a record of achievement.
Ensuring that all laboratory work areas and workstations are kept clean and tidy.
Undertake other duties of an appropriate nature in consultation with their supervisor & Laboratory Manager.
Maintain a professional standard and appearance during office hours and while promoting the company when on company business.
Ensure safety in the workplace and in this respect ensure compliance with all instructions relating to the use and storage of materials/equipment necessary for the performance of his/her tasks.
Follow health and safety policies and procedures at all times.

Required Qualifications
Minimum High School Diploma (essential).
