Graduate Chemist Programme – Energy Services

What is on offer?

AHK has an opportunity for a Graduate Chemist to join our laboratory operations, which provides analytical services to the solid fuels industry in addition to supporting a number of UK and International operations.

Based at our Dundonald facility situated in the West of Scotland, the role will involve a one-year technical development programme, which may, following successful completion, become a permanent appointment. During this, you will spend time in our different laboratories and preparation facilities, learning about the wide range of analytical services and techniques we operate. On successful completion of the programme, your next assignment could be to a role at our US laboratory based in Gonzales, Louisiana.

Required Knowledge and Work Experience 

  • Previous internship or initial professional work experience in a laboratory environment is desirable but not essential.
  • An understanding of the following analytical techniques: ICP-MS, XRF, Classical Gravimetric and Titrimetric Analysis, Ion Chromatography, GC-MS.
  • IT Skills to include Microsoft Word and Excel,

Required Qualifications 

  • BSC (Hons) Chemistry  or Chemistry related discipline

Required Languages

  • Fluency in English is essential. Other languages would be advantageous

Travel Requirements 

  • Travel as required both domestically and internationally.
  • Must have a valid passport and the ability to obtain visas as necessary.
