The role will primarily consist of the daily operation of either an ICP-OES or ICP-MS spectrometer for the analysis of inorganic samples. The successful candidate will be responsible for not only the day to day running of the instrument, but will also be expected to be able to maintain the instruments performance by ways of simple maintenance and troubleshooting.
The successful candidate will be expected to work with an existing team of instrument operators and support technicians that currently operate numerous ICP instruments from different manufacturers.
Ideally, any candidate should be an experienced Spectroscopist with a minimum of 3 – 5 years’ experience and will be expected to display a high level of maths and computer skills. Any experience with LIMS based data systems would be preferable but not essential as training will be provided.
· Organising workloads to ensure samples are reported in agreed timescales.
· Analysis of samples using ICP-OES or ICP-MS, ensuring all ISO 17025 quality requirements are met in line with laboratory procedures.
· Process and interpretation of analytical results.
· Perform maintenance and troubleshooting of instrumentation.
