Inspector

WHAT IS ON OFFER

Alfred H Knight has an opportunity for an Inspector to join our team based in Montréal, Québec. As an Inspector you will be responsible for ensuring client instructions are carried out at the consignment location. You will act as an independent party to verify compliance with agreed processes and provide details to clients regarding the handling of their products.  Some assignments may include active sampling and shipping of products for laboratory testing.

DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?

To be successful at Alfred H Knight you will need to display the following:

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE

 

Essential

  • French & English required (French fluency is not mandatory, an intermediate to advanced level would be considered).
  • Ability to communicate efficiently with work site and office-based staff.
  • Maintain a professional and independent position for all assignments.
  • Must be detail oriented and can convey details through written reports and photographs.
  • Must be reliable and able to organize and operate independently (training will be provided).
  • General computer literacy (Word, Excel, Gmail, Google Drive, etc).
  • Sound mathematical skills.
  • Read and interpret documents such as packing lists, operating and maintenance instructions, procedures manuals, safety instructions, etc.
  • Follow directions ensuring the results are accurate and reported promptly.
  • Work well with others and independently.
  • Able to lift to 50 lbs.
  • Maintain a professional and independent position for all assignments.
  • Positive attitude.

 

Required Work Experience 

  • Experience in material sampling and inspection practices is preferred.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and occasionally climb a ladder.
  • Must have a reliable personal vehicle suitable for transportation to assignments.
  • Must have a valid and clean Driving Licence.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credentials allow access to US Ports) preferred. If working in a location where TWIC is required, the candidate must be able to pass the background and security requirements).

 

Travel Requirements

  • Depending on the location and client instruction, some travel may be required, including overnight stays.
