Alfred H Knight has an opportunity for an Inspector / Sampler to join our team based in Phnom Penh or Sihanoukville, Cambodia. AHK provides services to the mining, metals, refining and recycling industries in a variety of capacities including auditing, supervision, sampling and analysis of metals and minerals derived from the previously mentioned practices. As an Inspector/Sampler you will be responsible for ensuring client instructions are carried out at various consignment locations.  You will act as an independent party to verify compliance to agreed processes and provide details to clients regarding the handling of their product.  Examples of some assignments would include: witnessing the processing of recyclable/refining materials, conducting inventory counts, performing active sampling of client products and preparing resulting samples for shipment as necessary.

Do you have what it takes to be an Inspector?


  • As an Inspector/Sampler of Alfred H Knight in the field, act and perform duties on behalf of our clients in order to ensure their interests are protected and all practices, procedures and guidelines are carried out or followed.
  • Send and receive email and phone communications to/from the office-based representative for coordination and scheduling of assignments and communicate status updates throughout operations.
  • Carry out any assignments in accordance with the clients’ instructions and industry standards. Procedures and practices will be provided on an assignment basis.
  • Provide written reports that summarize all operations carried out for any given assignment using provided templates.
  • Dispatch samples to the destinations as instructed by the clients (via UPS, FedEx, or DHL).
  • Ensure safety in the workplace and, in this respect, also ensure compliance with any and all instructions relating to the use and storage of material/equipment necessary for the performance of all job-related tasks.
  • Follow appropriate health and safety policies and procedures at all times, including site-specific requirements.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours

  • Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with work site and office-based staff.
  • Maintain a professional and independent position for all assignments.
  • Must be detail oriented and have the ability to properly convey details through written reports and photographs.
  • Must be reliable and able to organize and operate independently (training will be provided).
  • General computer literacy (Word, Excel, Gmail, Google Drive, etc).

Required Work Experience

  • Experience in material sampling and inspection practices is preferred.
  • Alternatively, experience in warehousing, logistics, processing or general hands-on tasks is desirable.

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to carry out manual sampling operations using provided equipment (including but not limited to scoops, spears, drill-powered augers and shovels).
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds (as and when necessary).
  • Must have a personal vehicle suitable for transportation to/from assignments.
  • IT skills to work on Excel, Windows & PowerPoint
  • English writing, and speaking skills to send daily email updates, report to office based staff

Travel / Rotation Requirements 

  • It must be understood that all assignments may not fall within the referenced 350 mile radius, and there will be some need to provide coverage in other areas of the country, requiring more lengthy travel.
  • In some instances, extended travel and overnight stays will be required.
  • Ability to travel at short notice and flexibility to work on weekends (if required) based on assignment is a must.
  • Due to the nature of this industry and employment position, it must be noted that daily/weekly schedules are dictated by client appointments and their requirements, which are subject to change.
