IT Asset and Patch Administrator

What is on offer?

AHK has an exciting opportunity for an IT Asset and Patch Administrator to join our IT team based in Prescot, Liverpool. Reporting directly to the Head of Infrastructure, as IT Asset and Patch Administrator you will be responsible for ongoing patching of End User, Server, and Network Infrastructure, including all laptops, desktops, printers, physical and virtual servers, and working closely with the wider IT team to drive priorities and compliance of our Patching SLA.

This role lends itself to an extremely organised individual that can combine a good technical understanding of the tools and processes required to both apply the patches automatically and leverage the tools to minimise exposure to ongoing vulnerabilities. A strong understanding of the supporting tool sets will be essential for success. In addition you will actively manage hardware and software assets within the organisation. This includes planning, monitoring, and recording software licences and/or hardware assets to ensure compliance. The APM Administrator will also develop and make recommendations to improve procedures for tracking company assets to oversee quality control throughout their life cycles.

Do you have what it takes?

To be successful at Alfred H Knight you will need to display the following:

Desired skills and experience

  • Knowledge of IT Infrastructure technologies.
  • Experience using SolarWinds N-able patch management tooling or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of Carbon Black,
  • Knowledge of vulnerability assessment frameworks and supporting tooling (e.g. Nessus, OpenVAS, AppCheck, Tenable).
  • Cloud security knowledge (Google Workspace, AWS, Azure or Google Cloud)
  • Experience working with 3rd party vendors
  • An understanding of IT and network systems and their vulnerabilities and the ability to work with technical specialists to develop solutions and hardening techniques.
  • Ability to plan, design, implement and support complex solutions in the patching/vulnerability space.
  • Working knowledge of multi-platform engineering; planning, coordinating, and executing patch management operations, creating baselines, and configuring hardened systems.
  • Working technical knowledge of Asset management processes, procedures and tooling
  • Experience in supporting IT System
  • Strong quality “right first time” approach and a customer experience ownership mindset

  • A relevant degree or IT certification.
