Maintenance Technician

WHAT IS ON OFFER

Alfred H Knight has an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Technician to join our team in Walvisbay Namibia. The role is responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance tasks to ensure all equipment and facilities operate efficiently. Duties include troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, repairing machinery, conducting inspections, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. The incumbent will collaborate with other departments to minimize downtime and maintain a safe and efficient work environment.

DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES

To be successful at Alfred H Knight the incumbent will need to display the following:

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE

 

Required Competencies

  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical systems
  • Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, schematics, and manuals
  • Familiarity with industrial tools, machinery, and maintenance processes
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for basic reporting and record-keeping
  • Demonstrates attention to detail and a high level of precision in maintenance tasks
  • Proactive in identifying and resolving potential equipment issues
  • Adapts well to changing priorities and works effectively under pressure
  • Maintains a safety-first mindset and adheres to organizational standards

 

Required Qualifications

  • Grade 12 certificate with a Trade Certification or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field

 

Required work experience 

  • Minimum of two years of experience in equipment maintenance or a similar role, preferably in a laboratory setting within mining or industrial sector
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to equipment and facilities maintenance
