Quality Advisor

What is on offer?

Alfred H Knight Energy Services has an opportunity for a Quality Advisor to join our Team in Dundonald, South Ayrshire. Where you will be providing support to the Group Technical and Quality Manager and Senior Management in relation to Quality.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day management of the ISO17025 Quality Management System. Working with the Group Technical and Quality Manager and the laboratory and operations management to ensure the QA/QC procedures are maintained, calibrations are performed in a timely manner, equipment checks are carried out, training and competency records are maintained, proficiency schemes are maintained, non –conforming test work and corrective actions are managed and improvements are identified and implemented.

Do you have what it takes to be a Quality Manager?

Responsibilities 

  • Ensuring at all times that a high degree of accuracy and precision is applied to chemistry methods and procedures through incorporating and promoting good laboratory practice principles and adherence to the QMS.
  • Advising the Laboratory Management of problems during the execution of day-to-day analytical methods and procedures and associated standard operating practices through the use of non- conforming work and corrective actions reports.
  • Working with the laboratory management and staff to develop improvements within the laboratory procedures and processes.
  • Carry out internal audits on an ongoing basis and participate in external UKAS and client audits.
  • Maintaining records that are clear and easily auditable and traceable.
  • Ensure training and competency records for all staff are maintained.
  • Work with all staff to maintain a culture of improvement and co-operation.
  • Oversee that all Laboratory and preparation equipment is maintained in a working and calibrated state in compliance with the guidelines of the ISO 17025 accreditation.
  • Undertaking other duties of an appropriate nature in consultation with the Group Technical and Quality Manager.
  • Prepared to travel both nationally and internationally if necessary.
  • Ensuring compliance with all Company Health, Safety & Environmental procedures as instructed.
  • Maintaining a professional standard and appearance at all times during working hours and whilst promoting the company on company business.

 

To be successful at Alfred H Knight you will need to display the following:

Required knowledge and work experience 

Required Skills and Knowledge

  • Minimum 2-5 years’ experience within a laboratory setting
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in a QA / QC role managing ISO17025/ ISO9001

 

Required Competencies

  • Ability to plan and implement
  • Good knowledge and experience working with QMS – ISO 9001 / 17025 / 17020
  • Troubleshooting knowledge and general problem solving ability
  • Coaching and training
  • Full understanding of ISO17025
  • Highly organised with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong continuous improvement focus with a strive for excellence
  • Good numeracy skills
  • IT skills – Microsoft and Google applications

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • HNC / HND / Degree in Science related subject or equivalent as a minimum.
  • Auditing certificates to ISO 9001 / 17025 / 17020
