We have an exciting opportunity for a Regional Infrastructure Engineer SSA to join the team based in Johannesburg.
This position is responsible for maintaining and proactively managing the infrastructure systems in the Laboratory and office environments this includes specialised Analytical computers, end users’ devices, associated software and systems are operating in optimal condition. You will form part a highly skilled team to ensure that the business IT needs are met.

Responsibilities
Maintain server, network equipment and data center integrity.
Monitor DC, file and print and application servers for capacity, utilization and performance; troubleshoot as required.
Monitor network connections for capacity, utilization and performance; troubleshoot as required.
Ensure network connectivity of all servers, workstations, telephony equipment, fax machines, and other network appliances.
Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
Perform implementation and maintenance of server platforms, SAN technologies, virtualization technologies and other data center equipment and systems as required.
Analyse the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems; develop recommendations for improving or further leveraging these systems.
Perform server and security audits, system backup procedures, and other recovery processes in accordance with the company’s disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.
Practice system/server asset management, including maintenance of system/server inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information
Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new systems
Monitor and test system performance; prepare and deliver system performance statistics and reports.
Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports.
Ongoing management of systems costs, including supplier negotiation, particularly with a view to obtaining best cost services as balanced against the needs of the business.
Work closely with Regional Systems and Networks Engineers and implement their recommendations and programmes appropriate.
Work with internal customers to provide system solutions
Maintain all LAB computers integrity.
Perform administrative tasks as required to LAB systems.
Provide demonstrations on customer locations as required on LAB systems.
Provide technical sales assistance as required.
Train other IT and business staff as required on LAB systems.
Perform implementation and maintenance of LAB computers and software as required.
Perform LAB and security audits, system backup procedures, and other recovery processes in accordance with the company’s disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.
Maintain central repository of all LAB equipment.
Practice LAB asset management, including maintenance of LAB inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
3rd line support of the company’s laboratory desktop computing.
Write effective technical documentation as assigned.
Troubleshoot and resolve escalated issue tickets
Document each contact with details, including all successful and unsuccessful decisions made and actions taken, through to final resolution
Write effective technical documentation as assigned
Ensure adherence to company IT standards for systems and networks
Ensure adherence to company IT processes, such as change management
Keep abreast of current technology
Ensure that all Compliance, Quality Assurance, Health, Safety and Environmental work practices within the Job function is constructed and conducted safely and ensure that all hazards are identified and controlled

Exposure to Cyber security solutions
Working knowledge of data center management techniques
Exposure to the implementation and support of the WinTel environment
Knowledge of Microsoft Server products
Knowledge of DNS, DHCP, Active Directory
Knowledge of Asset Management Tool
Knowledge of Microsoft SQL is a plus, but not essential
Some exposure to or knowledge of Citrix technologies
Some exposure to or knowledge of SAN technologies, NetApp preferred.
Working knowledge of backup/restore solutions
Knowledge of networking topologies and network wiring systems
Hands-on experience with Virtualization, Clustering, DR/BCP Best Practices
Extensive experience utilizing several operating systems
Technical certification such as MCSE or MCITP preferred
Experience with HP equipment a plus
Working knowledge of LAB techniques
Exposure to LAB computer security, monitoring and configuring
Knowledge of Microsoft LAB products
Required Experience and Qualifications
3 – 5 years’ experience in IT.
Degree in Information Technology, or the equivalent in terms of education, experience and training
Required Languages
Highly proficient in English (Verbal and written)
