Release Manager

WHAT IS ON OFFER

Alfred H Knight is seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Release Manager to join the team based at our Head office in Liverpool, UK. The Release Manager’s role will be to oversee and manage the packaging and delivery of product and infrastructure releases to production environments. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire release pipeline, ensuring quality standards are upheld at every stage, and coordinating cross-functional teams to deliver successful releases to production.

You will play a key role in enforcing governance practices, facilitating communication between delivery teams and stakeholders, and driving continuous improvements in our release management processes.

To be successful at Alfred H Knight you will need to display the following:

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE 

 

Essential 

Technical knowledge

  • Software development lifecycle (SDLC): Understanding of various phases, including development, testing, UAT, deployment and maintenance.
  • Release Management processes: Familiarity with methodologies and best practices for planning, scheduling, and managing releases.
  • Project Management: Skills in managing projects, including scheduling, resource allocation, and risk management.
  • QA: understanding of QA processes and testing methodologies to ensure release quality.
  • Monitoring and Incident Management: Awareness of monitoring tools and practices for tracking application performance and handling incidents.
  • Compliance and Security: Understanding of security requirements and best practices for ensuring secure and compliant releases.

 

Required Competencies

  • Organisational skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously while keeping track of schedules and deadlines.
  • Attention to detail: Ensures that every aspect of the release process is thoroughly checked to avoid errors.
  • Communication skills: Effectively communicates with various stakeholders to ensure alignment to release plans and goals.
  • Problem-solving abilities: Quickly addresses and resolves issues that arise during the release cycle.
  • Leadership: Guides and motivates teams to ensure smooth and efficient release processes.
  • Adaptability: Adjusts to changing priorities and requirements, often in a fast-paced environment.
  • Time Management: Balances short-term tasks with long-term goals, ensuring timely delivery of releases.

 

Required Work Experience

  • 2+ years experience in a Release Manager role or similar.
  • Any industry experience in Metals & Minerals, Agriculture, Energy or Circular Economy (preferred).

 

Required Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level or above in an IT related field.
  • Release Management certifications (preferred).

 

This role may involve travel to both UK and overseas sites.
