Site Manager

Alfred H Knight has an exciting opportunity through its Indonesia entity, PT AHK Testing Indonesia, who is looking for a Site Manager to join our team based in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan. PT AHK Testing Indonesia provides independent analysis and inspection services to the metals, minerals and solid fuels industries. We have a well-earned reputation for our knowledge and professionalism in all aspects of weighing, sampling and analysis.

The Site Manager is the senior authority responsible for the comprehensive oversight and strategic leadership of the on-site laboratory operations at the nickel matte smelter. This role entails the formulation and execution of laboratory policies and procedures that align with the smelter’s production objectives and the client’s quality expectations. The Site Manager ensures that all analytical processes related to the testing and quality control of nickel matte and associated raw materials are performed with the highest standards of accuracy, reliability, and efficiency.

The Site Manager is charged with establishing a robust quality management system that upholds ISO 17025 standards for technical competence and reliability of test results. This includes developing and maintaining effective systems for method validation, quality control, and compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations as per ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards. The role also involves direct client engagement to understand and meet their analytical needs, provide technical expertise, and manage any issues that arise in the laboratory’s service delivery. Additionally, the Site Manager oversees resource management, including budgeting, equipment procurement, and staff development, to ensure that the laboratory is equipped to meet both current and future demands.

DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?

To be successful at Alfred H Knight you will need to display the following:

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE 

 

Required Competencies

  • Ability to plan and implement method development and validation work.
  • Deep understanding of laboratory techniques, especially for XRF, ICP, AAS, and any analytical method required to support operations activity.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of ISO 17025, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001 standards, with proven experience in maintaining compliance.
  • Troubleshooting knowledge and general problem solving.
  • Mentoring, coaching, training and technical support.
  • Ability to effectively lead and drive a team.
  • Highly organized with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong quality focus with a strive for excellence.
  • Ability to analyze complex data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Proven experience in managing client relationships, with excellent communication and negotiation skills.

 

Required Work Experience

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Laboratory Manager and/or 3 years as a Laboratory supervisor in Mining/Survey Industries and concerned with analytical settings, method validation, and development as managing people in laboratory services/mining industries.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Extensive experience in managing laboratory operations, including method development, equipment maintenance, and quality control.
  • Proven track record of maintaining ISO 17025 accreditation and working knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
