As Supervisor you will be functionally responsible to the Site Foreman / Branch Manager for the management of the day-to-day operation within the AHK Durban Operations Department to ensure that operationally and managerial, efficient and high-quality service is provided in order to meet reporting deadlines and priorities agreed with AHK Head Office and clients.

Responsibilities:
Inspecting and/or weighing of commodities and loading of containers at client’s premises/warehouse/mines.
Overseeing sampling of commodities at our premises or independent warehouses/mines.
Liaise with the Site Foreman / Branch Manager to ensure that the following contingencies are met: -Staff shortages as a consequence of leavers, illness, holidays, equipment malfunction/breakdown, peaking or growth of work volume within the operations, re-prioritizing of significant amounts of sampling work.
Ensuring that the workforce is sufficiently motivated, skilled, and properly trained to meet the operational needs of the business. It is the post holder’s responsibility to inform the Site Foreman / Branch Manager of continual resourcing difficulties and, or, operational problems.
Ensuring at all times that a high degree of accuracy and precision is applied to sampling/surveying through incorporating and promoting good sampling practice principles. And for ensuring that work throughput is followed in accordance to documented methods and procedures (SOP’s). It is the post holder’s responsibility to inform the Site Foreman / Branch Manager of any failure in compliance to documented methods.
Providing technical advice and support to the site staff as required, on technical or operational problems, acting in a ‘trouble shooting’ capacity to subordinates.
Advising the Site Foreman / Branch Manager of repetitive technical problems relating to day-to-day sampling procedures.
Communicate and report any staff issues to the Site Foreman / Branch Manager which may include punctuality, attendance and training issues.
Maintaining record keeping, such that work is clearly and easily auditable, and traceable within the guidelines of AHK.
Monitoring staff attendance and punctuality in consultation with the HR Department.
Preparation and / or completion of reports.
Delivery and / or completion of reports.
Reporting of updates on a regular basis and submitting tally sheets / shift sheets and photos on a daily basis.
Assist personnel in the prep area when not occupied with Sampling Related work
Assist with the storage and disposal of bulk reserve samples as necessary.
Follow instructions from your superiors.
Observe the features and marks of the commodities.
Record all information and discrepancies neatly and accurately, and report timeously in accordance with deadlines and client requirements.
Record dates, times and expenses accurately to assist in preparing invoices which are fair to you, the company and clients.
Assist senior staff, supervise junior staff and work with outside parties to the benefit of clients and the company.
Treat and / or maintain company equipment with appropriate care and attention.
Act in accordance with the standard procedures and professional integrity of the company.
Respect and maintain confidentiality regarding clients, locations and commodities being handled.
Other ad hoc duties as may be requested by the Site Foreman, Branch Manager or General Manager from time to time.
