Presenting: Dr Laurance Donnelly - Chief Geologist and Head of Technical Department
The World Congress of Soil Science 2022 (WCSS 22) is a leading international soil science conference, held every four years in different countries and attended by soil scientists from around the globe. This year’s congress will take place between the 31st of July and the 5th of August in Glasgow, Scotland.
The theme for this year’s event is ‘Soil Science – crossing boundaries, changing society’, which will focus on the link between soil and society, with sessions covering soil systems, soil processes, soil management and how we interact with and use soils around the world.
During this year’s meeting, Dr Laurance Donnelly, Chief Geologist, Head of Technical Department at Alfred H Knight and the Founder and Chair of IUGS Initiative on Forensic Geology will be delivering a virtual presentation on the forensic fingerprinting of minerals and metals.
The presentation will include an evaluation of the illegal trafficking, theft and trade in minerals and metals, which is a major global problem and will discuss how forensic fingerprinting can help to solve this problem.
If you are attending this year’s event, make sure to catch Dr Laurance Donnelly as he delivers his presentation as part of Working Group 4.1, ‘The application of Soil Science in the Criminal Justice System’ in Alsh 2 on Wednesday 3 August 2022.
