At Alfred H Knight, we take pride in the collaborative efforts of our international teams across the globe. As we look back on 2024, we’re reflecting on the many ways our colleagues collaborated globally. Here is how our teams shared knowledge, deepened understanding, and strengthened cross-border relationships last year.

GLOBAL COLLABORATION 

Alan Toms, Principal Auditor, and Paul McKeown, Group Technical Chemist, recently visited our laboratory in Kitwe, Zambia.

During their visit, they met with key members of our Zambian team to exchange vital knowledge. From this, they commissioned methods designed to improve our global methodologies at the general laboratory.

About the visit, Alan said: “ It was a pleasure to meet with the very talented personnel in Zambia who assisted in the completion and commissioning of this new installation.”

CELEBRATING THE AMBITION OF GRADUATES

We took the time towards the end of 2024 to celebrate the success of two colleagues taking part in AHK’s graduate programmes in Mozambique.

Ibrahima (Kandia) Kouyate, Technical and Operations Graduate, has been in the programme for just over 15 months. Consequently, he has had the opportunity to visit a number of our sites to build on existing experience and knowledge.

As an Operations Coordinator, Flint Chagweda gained hands-on experience through training across multiple branches in Africa. 

We would like to congratulate Ibrahima and Flint on their journey so far and wish them luck as they continue on their path with AHK!

DEVELOPING EXPERTISE THROUGH EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMES 

Launched in February 2024, AHK designed the ‘Unlock Your Potential’ programme to tackle key learning needs, equipping colleagues with practical skills for real-world challenges.

In these sessions, colleagues gain insights into self-awareness by considering key factors that affect personal and professional objectives. Topics include stress management, the impact of energy and attitude on those around you, and understanding personal strengths and weaknesses to enhance teamwork.

So far, our Learning and Development team has delivered 26 impactful workshops, empowering over 200 colleagues across the UK. AHK Risk and Insurance Graduate Caitlin Patterson had this to say about the programme: “ I would recommend this workshop to anyone who feels they need to have more of an understanding of what it means to be self-aware and the importance of it.” 

INSTILLING TRUST THROUGH AUDITING 

Alfred H Knight is committed to providing accurate and reliable results that comply with internationally recognised standards. 

Furthermore, we are delighted to share that AHK Turkey has recently successfully passed the ISO 17020 and ISO 17025 inspection audits. These audits cover laboratory, inspection and surveillance work, taking place at our Istanbul, Izmir and Mersin sites.
