Alfred H Knight China hosted the International Non-Ferrous Symposium in Tianjin from May 14–16, 2025. Delivered in partnership with the China Smelters Purchase Team (CSPT), the three-day event gathered industry experts from around the world. Here, they discussed new technologies, shared valuable insights, and explored emerging trends, contributing to advancing knowledge in the non-ferrous sector.

Firstly, we would like to extend our gratitude to the CSPT for their invaluable assistance, coordination, and participation throughout the event. As the leading group of copper smelters, CSPT plays a pivotal role in shaping the global copper market. Their contributions to the symposium were instrumental in helping us refine our services and better understand the industry’s evolving needs.

INTRODUCING INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY

While experts were gathered, we were proud to showcase PhotonAssay™ technology at this year’s event. Introduced by Nigel Golborne, Group Laboratory Director, and Jo Wang, Acornfield Laboratory Manager, Metals & Minerals sector, the technology is designed for the precise analysis of gold and silver in commercially traded copper sulphide concentrate qualities. This breakthrough innovation is set to enhance accuracy and efficiency in the industry’s analytical processes.

Here are the highlights from the conference:

• PhotonAssay™ technology showcase: We showed how AHK is transforming inspection accuracy for certainty and efficiency.
• Expert-led sessions: In effect, these sessions explored AHK’s latest technology and innovation that supports local and global accredited testing and measurement techniques.
• Group quality control: As well as the expert-led sessions, attendees got to see how AHK maintains consistent quality control standards to ensure optimal operational outcomes worldwide.
• Laboratory and sample preparation facilities tour: Attendees visited AHK’s cutting-edge Laboratory and Sample Preparation facilities in Tianjin. As a result, they witnessed firsthand the state-of-the-art technologies and methods used for accurate preparation and analysis.
• Overview of locations and operations: The company provided an overview of its locations and operations in LATAM and Africa. This showed significant growth in its global presence.
• The importance of WSMD: Finally, experts shared best practices and strategies to address WSMD challenges in a focus session.
