WAC Testing

To ensure your waste is disposed of correctly, it’s vital that you get your advice from a specialist laboratory you can trust.

WHAT IS WASTE ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA (WAC) TESTING?

In accordance with the LANDFILL REGULATIONS (2005),  Waste Acceptance Criteria (WAC) Testing is mandatory by law. This means that all organisations have a responsibility to dispose of hazardous waste.

WAC Testing analyses the leaching ability of contaminants in a waste sample, identifying how they will behave in landfill. This helps determine whether it should go to a landfill that can accept hazardous, non-hazardous or inert wastes.

WHY IS WAC TESTING IMPORTANT?

Your business is legally obligated to dispose of potentially harmful waste appropriately. This means you must determine what landfill your material should go to.

To properly determine the right landfill for your waste, it will first need to be classified through a characterisation test. This tells you what the material is, then a WAC test will tell you where it can be disposed of.
