Born Survivor 2025: Team AHK UK Raises £2,745 for British Heart Foundation
29 colleagues from Alfred H Knight UK braved mud, water, fire, and ice this September to take on the Born Survivor 2025 obstacle course in Ribble Valley, Lancashire. Their mission? To raise vital funds for the British Heart Foundation.
A 12km Challenge of Endurance and Teamwork
Covering 12 kilometres of rugged terrain, the course featured more than 30 military-style obstacles designed to test strength, stamina, and determination.
Competitors plunged into icy waters, crawled through muddy tunnels, hurdled fire pits, and scaled daunting walls. Each challenge pushed the team further, yet they tackled everything with resilience. Highlights included:
- The Para Plunge – a freezing drop into open water
- Heartbreak Hill – a steep and gruelling climb
- The Mincer – a squeeze through confined spaces
- The Torpedo – a 60-metre water slide reaching speeds of over 30mph
Fundraising Success for the British Heart Foundation
Thanks to the team’s determination and the generosity of supporters, an incredible £2,745 was raised to help fund the British Heart Foundation’s life-saving research.
As UK Laboratory Technical Specialist James Leyland shared:
“Regardless of the obstacles, with teamwork and determination, Team AHK overcame everything thrown at them and finished in high, if not slightly cold, spirits!”
Voices from Team AHK
For some colleagues, this was their first-ever endurance event. Others used it as an opportunity to push personal limits and encourage their teammates every step of the way.
- “It was really fun and for a good cause too. I had never done anything like this before, but the support from the team made it amazing.” – Liz Settle, Group Insurance Manager
- “The challenge was something I genuinely enjoyed. I laughed from start to finish, even through the tough moments.” – Jennifer Curran, Group Resilience Manager
- “Temptation to take the escape route was real, but with my team beside me, I made it to the end!” – Janet Singleton, Learning & Development Coordinator
These reflections highlight not only the physical challenge but also the sense of community and support that defined the day.
Born Survivor 2025 — More Than Just a Challenge
Beyond the mud, sweat, and laughter, Born Survivor 2025 was about teamwork, resilience, and making a difference. The experience reminded everyone that success comes from collaboration and determination.
We are immensely proud of the team’s achievement. Their grit, spirit, and fundraising success show the power of working together, and the real-world impact we can make for vital causes.
Congratulations to all our Born Survivors, and thank you to everyone who donated in support!
