ICP Operator

WHAT IS ON OFFER

Alfred H Knight has an exciting opportunity for an ICP Operator to join our team here in Liverpool, UK. 

The ICP department provides a critical service to our wet chemistry laboratories, analysing the assay solutions they have generated through various dissolution techniques, quantitatively for the elements requested by the clients.

The ICP Operator will report to the Precious Metals ICP Manager and Precious Metals ICP Supervisor, and will be responsible for the daily operation of ICP spectrometers. A core part of this role is ensuring that all analytical evaluations of samples and commodities submitted to the laboratory are conducted with a high degree of precision, accuracy, and efficiency.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE 

 

Essential 

  • Strong team player with a collaborative approach and work ethic who can demonstrate a diplomatic and measured approach through leading by example and encouraging others.
  • Demonstrable literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Highly motivated with the ability to work under own initiative in a dynamic work environment with changing daily priorities.
  • The ability to develop the skills and knowledge within the laboratory to create an environment where knowledge sharing is a priority.
  • Strong team player with a collaborative approach and work ethic who can demonstrate a diplomatic and measured approach through leading by example and encouraging others.
  • Must have a high level of manual dexterity and be capable of occasionally lifting loads up to 10kg.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Read, understand and follow work instructions and guidelines accurately.
  • Able to focus on meeting given deadlines.
  • Able to communicate effectively in a range of different formats.
  • Proven time management skills, quality driven and proactive

 

Required Work Experience

  • Three or more years hands on, extensive, experience with an ICP-OES and/or ICP-MS Spectrometer. Modern Agilent or Thermo instruments preferred, though not essential.
  • Experience creating and validating instrument methods.

 

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum GCSE equivalent education in Mathematics, English Language and Science.

 

Travel 

  • Travel is not a regular requirement of this position. But if required, for instance, supporting other local laboratories or overseas work, this will be arranged on a case by case basis and in agreement with all parties involved.
