Are you an Insurance Officer or Risk Officer with the essential in-house corporate experience ready to take the next step into an Insurance Manager role?

Alfred H Knight has an exciting opportunity for an Insurance Manager to join our team in Prescot, Liverpool. This role is designed for a highly capable individual ready to manage the UK portfolio and progress their career, reporting directly to the Group Insurance Manager.

You will be joining the supportive Alfred H Knight family within the Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) department—a team focused on securing the Group’s future through strategic risk transfer. This isn’t just a managing role; it’s an opportunity to build and refine our UK risk defenses. As the Insurance Manager, your primary responsibility will be to take ownership of the UK insurance portfolio, acting as the crucial liaison between our UK business operations and GRC.

This is a high-impact, strategic opportunity where your expertise matters and can shape our approach. We are committed to continuous improvement, which is why this position offers clear pathways for professional development and progression within the wider GRC function. You will apply a robust risk management mindset to strategically optimise our insurance placements, ensuring our solutions provide the most effective and efficient final layer of financial defence for the Group.

DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?

To be successful at Alfred H Knight, you will need to display the following:

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Proven experience operating within an in-house Corporate Risk Management function, with knowledge of risk identification, control,  mitigation strategies and insurance placement and management within that function. e.g. insurance manager, risk manager, insurance officer, risk officer
  • Relevant experience in placing and managing complex UK and/or global corporate insurance programs.
  • Demonstrated success in influencing cross-functional teams (Operations, HSEQ, Finance) to provide accurate data and insights necessary for effective risk transfer.

 

Required Competencies

  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) with the ability to present complex risk ideas and information clearly to engage stakeholders effectively in a cross-functional environment.
  • Proficiency in interpreting and communicating complex data, including claims data, analytical thinking, and effective decision-making focused on optimising TCOR.
  • Strong project management and organisational/planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and respond effectively to changing priorities.
  • The ability to challenge opinions with logical, data-driven arguments and a practical understanding of risk management standards such as ISO 31000.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and a proactive approach to your work

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Highly Desirable: Professional qualification in Risk Management (e.g., IRMCert) or working towards one.
  • Relevant Finance or Insurance qualification (Cert CII, DipCII or equivalent).
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant subject (insurance, economics, business, or law) is desirable.
