Asia: China and Mongolia
RECOGNITION FROM THE CHINESE MINISTRY OF PUBLIC SECURITY

Dr Laurance Donnelly, Chief Geologist and Head of Technical, was invited by China’s Ministry of Public Security to speak at the National Police Laboratory and the Asian Forensic Science Network Symposium.
Dr Donnelly presented on forensic geology, illegal mining and illicit mineral trading and received a recognition award for his contributions. This acknowledgement demonstrates AHK’s reputation for technical excellence. It also reinforces our commitment to responsible and ethical practice worldwide.
SUPPORTING RURAL DEVELOPMENT IN GANSU PROVINCE
Colleagues from AHK China, working alongside fellow TIC Council members, took part in a State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) initiative to support farmers in Yacheng Town, Gansu Province, by purchasing their agricultural products.
This initiative promotes sustainable economic growth and supports local livelihoods, demonstrating how responsible business practices deliver meaningful community benefits.

MONGOLIA AND UK TEAM EXCHANGE

Executive Director Simon Longworth, Asia Analytical – Mongolia, visited the newly refurbished laboratory in Mongolia and WSMD operations at mine site laboratories. Meanwhile, Jargalsaikhan Gankhavkh , S&H Manager & AAS Operator, Asia Analytical – Mongolia, spent two weeks at the John Knight Laboratory in the UK.
The exchange included:
- Comparative analysis of molybdenum concentrates
- Practical demonstrations of the lead titration method
These knowledge-sharing activities strengthen shared expertise and maintain consistent quality across AHK’s global operations.
Latin America: Colombia, Peru, and Mexico
NEW OFFICE IN BARRANQUILLA, COLOMBIA
Our Colombian team recently opened a new administrative office designed to enhance collaboration and efficiency. This expansion strengthens operational infrastructure in Latin America and ensures consistent, high-quality service for regional clients.
PERU TEAM VISIT THE UK

Elvis Aranda, Senior Trainer, and Ivan Bazalar, Senior Chemist, from AHK Peru visited the John Knight Laboratory in the UK for advanced training with the XRF team.
They worked alongside Alastair Fraser, Group XRF Technical Manager, James Sharkey, Group XRF Technical Chemist, and Aniqah Rasheed, Group XRF Technical Support, to develop expertise in the Bruker S8 Tiger system and fused bead sample preparation.
MEXICO: TEAM BUILDING AND ENGAGEMENT
AHK Mexico recently hosted a football tournament, bringing together five teams to compete for the AHK Cup. The event promoted team building, connection, and enjoyment, reflecting AHK’s values and commitment to employee engagement.

Africa: Namibia and South Africa
SUPERVISORS CONFERENCE IN NAMIBIA
Supervisors from across Namibia gathered for a leadership conference focused on knowledge sharing, communication, and operational consistency. This initiative enhances leadership capability and supports AHK’s commitment to operational excellence.
WOMEN IN MINING ACHIEVEMENT
Trudy Hoaes, Operations Graduate, was elected Vice Chairperson of the Women in Mining Association of Namibia (Erongo Region). Her achievement reflects professionalism, leadership, and dedication to advancing women in the mining sector.
SUPPORTING EDUCATION IN SOUTH AFRICA
AHK South Africa has partnered with Kroondal Primary School in Rustenburg, donating over 30 blankets to support students’ wellbeing. This marks the start of a long-term collaboration to improve access to education and community support.
