EHS & Facilities Manager

WHAT IS ON OFFER

Alfred H Knight has an exciting opportunity for a EHS & Facilities Manager to join our team based in Spartanburg, South Carolina. You will be responsible for overseeing the health & safety, environmental programs, and facilities to guarantee a safe and healthy workplace.  You will adhere to AHK, local, state and federal regulatory requirements.

This critical role understands the relationship between safety, quality, and productivity and their combined influence on profitability of the organization. This position will carefully monitor HSE related performance, work collaboratively with employees to proactively influence desirable results, while minimizing the impact of unplanned events.

DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?

To be successful at Alfred H Knight you will need to display the following:

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE

 

Essential

  • Strong safety regulatory knowledge and expertise including OSHA, CCOHS,  and USEPA.  Knowledge of MSHA, USDOT, and Maritime regulations are a plus.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with a methodical troubleshooting and problem-solving mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and the ability to influence staff not in a direct-line reporting relationship.
  • Hands-on mindset and can-do attitude.
  • Must be able to provide training on HSE topics to staff at all levels of the organization.
  • Able to work independently.

 

Required Work Experience

  • A minimum of two years of prior experience as an HSE professional developing, implementing and leading Safety, Environmental, and/or Industrial Hygiene Programs.
  • Prior experience in a commercial environment is required.  Experience in laboratories, field operations, heavy equipment sites, or at ports and terminals is preferred.
  • Experience coordinating with regulatory agencies.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline.  A degree in engineering, chemistry, safety, or industrial hygiene is preferred.
  • Professional OHS/HSE Accreditation preferred (i.e.  ASP, CSD, MSP, OHST, CSP, CIH, CHMM, or CSHM).
  • Fluent English required, French is a plus.

 

Travel/Rotation Requirements

  • Some occasional travel in the US and Canada may be required to support operations in the Region (passport required for Canadian travel and will be supported by the business if not already obtained).
  • Future potential for international travel to meet with global HSE/Facilities leadership.

  • 401K. You can elect to make pre-tax contributions of between 1% to 84% of eligible earnings. The company contributes 3% of salary per annum.
